Pairing: JamesiiChi

For: Chi – happy birthday, bitch – it's not fair though, now you are legally allowed to sleep with one direction. I hate you, in the most loving way possible ;)

Hearts on the Glass

Chi smiled as she splashed the cold water onto her face, ridding her skin of last night's almost-but-not-quite make-up that she'd put on in a haste the previous evening. She licked her lips, tasting a distant bottle of firewhiskey and a serenade of sloppy, drunken kisses. She wasn't going to say they were the best kisses she'd ever experienced, she didn't want to give James that pleasure, but she was pretty sure that they were up there.

She ran a hand, donned with chipped, multi-coloured fingernails through her hair, and scowled. The knots and cotters were hidden too deep in her dark hair to be able to untangle them easily – she would have to do without, for the time being. She was unlikely to find a brush in this pig-sty of a bathroom. As the water became warmer, and Chi tried sluggishly to rinse away the taste of last night, the already dirty mirror that sat precariously on the edge of the sink began to steam up. The mist from the now boiling water rose, filling the room with a hot, soggy sensation. She inhaled, and her lungs were greeted by a surge of warm, wet air.

Chi left the house in a hurry, pulling on her clothes as she went, stumbling out of the gate on onto the street. She apparated with a muffled crack.

~xx~

James dragged his feet heavily across the carpet with the grogginess that could only have been caused by excessive alcohol. He sighed; annoyed that Chi had left so early. She'd walked away without a backwards glance, and it hurt him more that he'd ever admit. He pushed open the bathroom door. A wave of heat hit him as the steam raced to reach the cool surroundings of the passage. James grabbed his toothbrush, turning to face the mirror with a sort of withered resolution.

Barely visible against the condensation of the glass, a large heart was carved into the water, dripping onto the ledge below. James gave a sad sort of smile, and began to brush his teeth.
