So I finished rereading Dante's Inferno and I had some thoughts that I'd thought that I'd share with you.
MOONY-REMUS J. LUPIN
Remus Lupin was a good friend… a kind lover… a faithful husband… a doting father. He hated to cause pain and died a little inside whenever he hurt someone, either a Death Eater with a curse or his wife or friends with tactless words. But though he hated to curse men with his wand, Remus Lupin cursed God every time he saw the moon. He cursed God whenever he thought of his dead friends, dead Lover, and all of the innocent people killed in the Wars. He cursed God whenever he thought of the childlike innocence that was ripped away from Harry Potter when he survived and his parents died.
When Remus Lupin was hit with Dolohov's curse, he found himself waiting for a boat, and then after the boat he was seized by a long tail and hurled down into the Seventh Level of Hell, where he was damned to lay naked on the burning sands for all of eternity while fire rained down on him, as punishment for committing the greatest violence… the Violence of Cursing God.
WORMTAIL-PETER PETTIGREW
Peter Pettigrew used to be a wonderful jolly man, but grief and anger turned his faithfulness into hatred. He betrayed his closest friends, letting himself be blinded by fury. It's true that Peter may have regretted his actions but he succumbed to the temptation of betraying his friends and his friend's children far to many times to be forgiven…
Now, Peter is frozen deep in the ice, face out, eyes and mouth frozen shut in the Cocytusian water that surrounds Satan's rancid body with his three heads that chew the bodies of Judas, Brutus and Cassius. Peter know that he deserves the frozen wasteland of the Ninth Level but he wishes that he could repent, or at least join the three betrayers in Satan's mouth, because even that painful existence would be better than his own numb fate.
PADFOOT-SIRIUS O. BLACK
A fierce, loyal friend to the end, Sirius Black lived through his own personal Hell in Azkaban, punished for an unforgivable crime that he did not commit. When he snatched his freedom back, Sirius lived in a new Hell for almost two more years in the place where he spent his shameful childhood. When he fell through the veil, Sirius hoped that he would at last find peace, but instead he finds himself trapped in the Sixth Bolgia in the Eighth level of Hell.
Now, Sirius treads underneath the guilded cloaks of Lead with the rest of the hypocrites. Because, for his own wise words of equality, Sirius failed to follow his own advice, and the irony of his death was not punishment enough.
PRONGS-JAMES POTTER
James Potter was a man who enjoyed life. He enjoyed his wife and son, and his friends and family. He had a talent for getting away with things. He got away with his blatant cruelty to those whom he deemed to be lesser than him, he got away with hurting others with his spoilt tactlessness and his vanity. He did all of this as an ill attempt to woo Lily Evans, whom in the very end, caused his eternal suffering.
Now, trapped in the Second Level of Lust, James reflects on his life. He knows that even though he was physically sight disabled, his blind Lust for Lily Evans fogged the fine line between right and wrong and the fine between 'fun' and 'too far'. Now, as James Potter is swept along by the horrid, violent winds, he remembers his life… and he is filled with regret.
