Sunflower Lovers
This morning I stroll,
Whistling a happy tune.
I am in good humor-
A rare occurrence.
I am going to
My secret spot
To meet with my
Sweet Dorogoy.
I met him here
So long ago;
So like an angel
With his halo of gold.
Tho' we cannot see
Each other daily,
The times that we can
Are priceless.
Ah! There he is-
Waiting for me!
So patient and pure,
Oh how I love him!
We meet and kiss,
And it's like
I'm floating away.
My heart beats rapidly.
I gaze into his
Expressive eyes.
They draw me in
So deeply.
I take his hand
And we walk together
To the place
Where we first spoke.
We shield our eyes from
The blinding rays of sun,
Marveling in awe
The beauty of this patch.
Rolling hills of nothing
But Sunflowers.
A sea of gold green and brown.
A tear escapes at the sight.
We grin at each other
And run laughing
Through the fields.
Such a gorgeous day!
I tug his hand
And together we tumble
Down the slope,
Giggling like children.
We come to a stop
And lie there,
Catching our breath,
He atop my chest.
It feels so right,
Having him on me,
Snuggling like a kitten.
How have I lived before him?
He makes me feel
So very complete-
Like nothing or
No one else ever has.
I want him to be
With me always.
So I sit up,
Holding him steady.
I tell him my thoughts,
My wishes and dreams.
I pull out a ring
And ask for his hand.
Moisture films his eyes-
He wipes them away.
He smiles and nods,
The band glides on perfectly.
Our lips meld together,
The promise has been sealed.
We will be wed-
My Matvey and I.
