In one of those dimly lit, fully decorated living rooms that you typically see in Christmas movies sat what seemed like a stuffed rabbit on the comfortable leather chair. The toy was pure white, and had angel wings jutting out of its back. It was accessorized with a pink bow on its ear, a kerchief hanging from its neck, and a frilly tutu.
It sat there in silence for hours until its little arms started twitching. This eventually led to the toy tugging at its own ears, which further led to a flailing motion on the cushion, which finally resulted in the rabbit sitting up straight, as if there had been no struggle in the first place.
The rabbit looked into what supposedly was the audience, and a large blush crept across its cheeks. It clamped its hands over its mouth in embarrassment. "Oh, pardon me! Getting up fwom...uh...hibernation is pwetty difficult! Your limbs are all disowiented and evewything! Especially since it's not typical of rabbits!" As the seconds passed by, the redness started to fade away. "Anyway, my name is Usami, the Magical Miracle Girl and I'm hewe to wead you guys a stowy!"
It's eyes darted around the room for a moment, as if everything it said was supposed to be on some sort of cue. "...A few stowies, actually. A few vewy wonderful stowies that come fwom the heart. I made them myself."
Another pause filled the room as the rabbit reached over the arm of the sofa to grab a massive book, ragged with age, that was almost as tall as her from a coffee table that stood beside the sofa. She dropped it on the cushion she was on with a great huff. Just as she was about to begin, something clicked in her mind, and she climbed back over the arm to take yet another item. This time, it was a staff with some sort of heart and angel wings on the top of it. She pointed it toward the fireplace, and suddenly, fire crackled to life with a "wooshing" sound.
"Hehe...I just wanted to take extra measures, that's all."
Usami placed her magical wand of sorts aside, and opened the book to its very first page, revealing the title: Ms. Usami's Fairy Tales of Hope. She glanced at her "spectators" again. "They sure are tales of hope awight," she said, smiling as widely as she could with her stitched on mouth. She inhaled deeply, anticipation clearly showing through her.
"Once upon a time...," Usami began.
A/N- Alright, so, I think this is acceptable for a prologue? Of course, the following chapters will be much longer. I'm also pretty sure this qualifies as an AU.
I originally planned for all the characters to be representing actual characters, but then I realized that had been done before (Plus I have all this inspiration for fairy tale-esque ideas), and decided to create premises for original fairy tales. They'll be no where near as novel as the classics, but I'll try.
Thank you for reading.
