The Man Who Failed Central City

Summary: Barry is at a party at Oliver and Felecity's house. Set before and during the two premiers. Spoilers for "The Man Who Saved Central City."

There was something seriously messed up about seeing Oliver smile.

He and Felecity were having their first house gathering as a couple.

Needless to say: they were happy.

Barry rolled his eyes.

And he had been hiding by the stairs or corners all night like some sort of strange recluse.

Meanwhile Mr. Vigilante-See-My-Abs-And-Wounded-Eyes was the life of the party.

This is so messed up, Barry raked fingers through his hair.

'Star City was amazing!'

'Star City had no black holes!'

Most importantly-it was not Starling.

The 24 year old scientist hid, observing the crowd with a scowl on his face.

It was like he had Oliver had swapped bodies.

And personalities.

Barry looked down at his red plastic cup.

It was a crying shame he couldn't get drunk.

Not now.

Not ever.

The crowd faded as he was back at STAR Labs.

The sound of a gunshot rang out.

Eddie dropped to the ground.

Barry tried to scream-but nothing came out.

His whole body slightly vibrated at the memory.

The black hole began ripping off door hinges and pulling in cars.

Civilians throughout the city began to run.

So many of them died.

He was envolped by darkness.

Ronnie exploding.

"Ronnie! Professor Stien?!"

The two men/superhero nodded.

He was exploding.

"How's Central City?"

Barry was forcefully pulled out of his nightmare.

It was not a day dream.

He looked up to see Diggle standing over his small spot by the stair case.

"Sorry," the speedster apologized bitterly. "I must have...completely zoned out."

Then he shook his head quickly, "Umm, it's fine. How's...'Star City?"

Diggle raised his eyebrows, "It's bright. Oliver's harder to deal with. But now that he and Felecity are together I don't have to worry about him as much."

"Mm-yeah," Barry watched the pair as Felecity wiped cake on Oliver's nose, "They're...really...adorable with on-"

"Okay what's going on with you Barry?"

"Wh-what?" He blinked in surprise.

"You think I don't recognize that look in your eye? Don't you know that almost everybody in this room has had it?"

".I don't-"

"It's like you and Oliver have swapped places. So I'll be brief when I say that haunted look in your eye doesn't go away over night. Neither does pushing away your friend and family help you move past it."

Barry nodded, still feeling bitter, "Felecity told you."

"How two of your friends killed themselves to save you? Or how you ran or flew up into a black hole and came out alive?"

The young CSI felt his chest constrict.

It was getting harder to breath.

If Diggle noticed his discomfort he didn't let on.

Barry struggled getting a puff of air past his teeth.

"You can't let the darkness in Barry. The world needs some one to count on. They need The Flash."

The brunette snapped, standing, "Well maybe all he does is get people killed!"

Barry shot off.

He knew it was childish.

He knew everyone else wouldn't notice he was gone.

But he didn't care.

Right now the hero just stopped in the middle of a random street and saw the world begin to sway.

A gunshot.

A giant black hole in the sky.

A white light.

"How two of your friends killed themselves to save you?"

"Killed themselves."

"To save you."

Barry screamed so loud Gotham could probably hear it.

He hugged his stomach and stumbled.

His sneakers loosing traction.

A flood of tears clouded hazel eyes.

A gun shot.

"RONNIE!"

"Killed themselves-"

"Central City believes in The Flash. And so do I."

Author Notes: What do you think? XD I loved the premier ssooo much! I can't wait for "Green Arrow" tomorrow. Rock on.
