Bright golden light filters through the reddish tinged green leaves overhead, leaving speckled shadows across my boyfriend's face. His tanned hands easily swipe a wavy lock of dark brown hair away from my blushing face. I live for these moments, when we don't have to hide from anyone, no secrets; we're just ourselves, perfectly and impossibly in love.
"What are you thinking about?" He asks, his voice barely above a whisper, our foreheads pressing together. You, I'm always thinking about you.
"You, I love you," I murmur back and a shiver runs through me as his strong arms wrap around me, pulling me in. Our lips meet, eagerly. We're hours away from Rosewood, somewhere in the middle of countryside, kissing beneath an apple tree's branches when a large raindrop lands on my nose. The bemused expression on his face is priceless.
"It's just rain sweetheart," He laughs as heavy sheets of water pour down on our heads. For once in my life I don't care what I look like because I know that no matter what he'll still look at me as if I'm the most beautiful girl in the world. His hands find mine and our fingers intertwined we run through the tall grass, racing against the incoming storm.
"Wait," I attempt to pull him to a stop and he turns to me, surprise in his perfect, deep, blue eyes. Suddenly I feel nervous about my request, what if he turns me down? Blushing slightly I wait for his response.
"Yes?"
"Dance with me," His dark eyebrows rise slightly as he considers my request. He's going to say no. As I'm about to tell him never mind his arms wrap around my slender waist and my thin arms wind around his perfectly sculpted neck. Hesitantly his lips brush against my ear and he starts to hum quietly, off key but I don't care. Our inexperienced feet move haltingly over the soaked through grass and rain falls around us, drenching my golden summer dress. He starts to twirl me, earning a laugh as I trip backwards. Easily he catches me and looks down, a smile on his boyish lips. This is perfect. How did I end up so lucky?
"Aria?"
"Yes?"
"I love-" He's cut off by my phone trilling from within my leather purse.
"Hold that thought please," And I reach inside the purse, pulling out my phone. My dark eyes widen, and tears threaten to spill over.
Time little Aria made her way back to Rosewood. She won't be happy with what she finds but I sure am. Have you heard from Spencer? Oh, I guess you wouldn't...
Xoxo,
-A.
The phone now holding terrifying news slips from my fingers and falls to the water sodden ground as my deep brown eyes fly up to Ezra's face, concern furrowing my brow.
"We have to go back, now."
