"Do we not have a song!?" they say in unison. They're both equally shocked that it's taken them this long to come to the realization that they lack such a quintessential aspect of their relationship.
"Okay — okay don't panic," Castle implores.
"Don't panic? Rick we're about to get married and we don't even have a song," Kate moans, burying her face in her hands.
Castle pauses as he plops down beside her on their bed. How is it possible that after all these years they cannot come up with one single song to express the meaning behind their relationship? And maybe that's the problem… After so many years — so many life altering experiences together — there couldn't possibly be one song to describe everything they've been through, everything that's built their relationship. Could there?
"You know…" Castle starts, "A wise woman once told me that when you're in love, all the songs make sense."
Kate smirks, "Is that so?"
"Yes, and maybe the problem isn't that we don't have a song, but that we don't have a song." Despite the fact that he looks as though he's just discovered fire, Kate has no clue what on earth Castle could possibly be talking about.
"Castle, you're going to have to do a bit more than change your inflection if you want me to be able to see where you're going with this."
"I'm saying that maybe we have too many songs that we individually feel describe our relationship." he reasons. "I mean, between the two of us there have to be tons, but what we need is to come up with one song. Together."
"Okay," Kate nods, "so what are you suggesting?"
"We make a list. Both of us. A list of songs that remind us of our relationship and then we go over them together. Eventually we'll have to agree on one."
"You know, Castle that's not a bad idea."
Rick's pensive expression quickly turns to a playful grin as he crawls across the mattress toward his fiancé.
"Well Beckett, you are marrying a genius" he says before he claims her lips, effectively postponing their conversation until a later time.
