Fate doesn't know when she had begun to become such a cowardly person. She acts like nothing is wrong, and that she will not break. (She will, one day.)
Fate doesn't know what's wrong with her, even though she knows something is wrong.
Fate was never meant to be someone in the first place.
Fate was never meant to have friends.
Fate was never meant to be able to love.
Fate was created only to serve its purpose, and that purpose had been fulfilled long ago.
So why was she still here?
Why was she still living, breathing, thinking, feeling, taking up somebody else's place in this world?
Someone who deserved it more should have been in her place, living their perfect life.
Not her.
Not her life.
Not her uselessness.
Fate knows that, and she tries her best to live up to her. That kind, compassionate, loving girl.
The one who deserved infinitely more than her early demise.
And so Fate loves and is loved - even if she thinks does not deserve it, and she tries her best to do good in the world. It is never nearly enough in this particular world, but it would have been what she wanted.
