Living On A Prayer
Chapter One: Discoveries
Raoul & Jasper are little white mice and they just happen to be friends. They are playing a game by their home, a small prairie in southern Canada. Their mother's told them not to go that far away from home but they didn't listen. They told them there were snakes and birds that would take them away, but nope, they didn't listen.
RAOUL; C'mon Jasper, I know you're faster then that!
JASPER; I am!! I'm just letting you get a head start!
RAOUL; Nana Na Na Na, you can't catch me!! (whoosh) See you later alligator!!
JASPER; No fair!
RAOUL;... ... ... ...Huff... Huff...What th...?!?!...(BOEING!!) Ow ow ow!! My head! Um...sorry mister...EEEKKKKK! (yelped Raoul in terror)
SNAKE; Noooo need ssssss to sssssss apoligizsssss! HEHEHEH!!
JASPER... ... huff...puff...What is it!?!? EEEEKKKKK!!!!Ss..s..ss..s..s..ss..s..s...SNNAAKKE!!!!! RUN!!!
RAOUL; Lets get out of here!!
SNAKE; HEHEHE!! You can run but you can't hide!!!
RAOUL; C'mon Jasper!! Run faster!
JASPER; I'm trying!!
RAOUL; Hurry!! He's not far behind!!
Minutes past which seemed to them they were running for hours. They decided to climb a bush and hide.
SNAKE; Oh, dang it! Where did those little rats go!
JASPER; Look, there he is!
RAOUL; Ssshhhh!!!
SNAKE; Ugh, stupid rodents!...I should go back...I'm too close to they road. I bet those stupid rats got ran over.
And with that, he slithered away, muttering to himself.
JASPER; Road, what's a road?
RAOUL; I don't know. Maybe we should go check it out.
They slowly and quietly got out of the bush they were in and walk quietly to the edge of the grassland and to the side of the so called "road". It was late and they hadn't had dinner. Their parents were surely worried about them.
RAOUL; Maybe we should start heading back before the snake comes.
But Jasper wasn't listening. He was already half way across the so called "road". It was as if he was in a trance.
Raoul caught up with him and all of a sudden, he heard a noise. At first he thought it was a storm, then it got louder, and louder, and louder. It felt as if it was coming closer and closer. There was a bright light and the ground underneath them was shaking. Before they knew it, they were swept to the other side of this so called "road". It took them a while to realize what just happened and where they were.
RAOUL; Jasper! Jasper! Where are you?!?
JASPER; Over here Raoul! I got knocked in the head pretty hard by a rock...
RAOUL; What just happened?
JASPER; I think we're on the other side of that "road" thing. This big object whipped us to the other side. Man, I guess that's why the snake didn't want to go any further because the "road" is a dangerous thing.
RAOUL; Thank the lord we're both o.k. We would'nt know what to do without each other...Let's get some rest. Tomorrow we'll find a way to get back.
JASPER; Ya, your right. But let's not stay here. You know... the R-D-um-G-uh-K? You know what I mean!
RAOUL; C'mon, let's go find a place to sleep.
Just then a man walked by carrying an open bag.
JASPER; Raoul, let's hitch a ride with that human. I bet he can take us to the other side!
RAOUL; I don't know about tha...
He didn't even get to finish his sentence. Jasper was already over by the man jumping into the bag.
JASPER; Hurry up Raoul! He's walking away!
Raoul ran for the man and hopped in. They were planning to jump out at their stop but they quickly dozed off to sleep.
