Luke lay in the bed with his thick blankets over his head.. He couldn't sleep.

He had been placed into Star Ridge Foster home on the outside of the small town he lived in by his single mother. His room had 2 beds one for Luke and one for his room-mate.

"Hey... person, you awake?" The voice belonged to a girl around the same age as Luke "Wh-Who is that?" The person laughed "I'm your room-mate" "Oh" "So... there's a rumour going around that a boy that I think is you was moving here that can talk to snakes. is it true?" She said this with real curiosity. "So what if it is?" "I can talk to snakes! I found out when I went to Edinburgh Zoo. There was this massive Python and it was inside a box. I said hi to it and when it responded with hello I was amazed!" Luke was shocked, he flung the blankets off of him and leaped out of bed running over to the girls' "Really you don't think I'm crazy?" "Of course I don't think you're crazy!" "Thanks... Sorry, what's your name? I just got here at curfew last night." "Kiera, Kiera McGuire." "Well it's nice to meet you Kiera" "You too..." Luke interrupted her finishing her sentence with his name "Luke" "Okay well we'll need to get to sleep." "Yeah, Yeah we do"

Luke was woken up by a bang coming from the other side of the room he sat up quickly looking across the room. Luckily it was just Kiera, she had knocked her small jewellery box off of her bedside cabinet

Kiera looked over at Luke and apologised with a smile. Luke could see her clearly now, she short brown hair and fairly large glasses on Luke thought she was beautiful. "Well at least I'm up now" Kiera laughed a bit at this "Yeah... I guess you are" "So where do I get showered and changed" "There's a bathroom attached onto our bedroom its right over there" She pointed to a door just behind Luke in the far left corner of the room "Okay well, I'll see you in twenty minutes. "I'll be downstairs in the dining hall." "Alright"

The dining hall was made up of 3 tables circular tables of chairs with a table at the far back wall next to the kitchen with a variety of cereals, toast and some fruit. Luke looked around the room looking for his new and only friend. She was at a table with 3 other people 2 girls and a boy she spotted him and shouted over to him "Hey.. Luke there's a spare seat over here!" Luke rushed over and sat down next to Kiera. Near instantly an elderly woman about 50 years old came over to the table "So, Luke you've made some friends already?" "Yeah I have" "Well we already have a family interested in you!" "Really!?" "Yes. and Kiera honey, you come too" The old woman took the kids into an office room where there was a man with greying hair and a goatee "Hello, My name is Draco Draco Malfoy."
