Heaven is supposed to be a place of peace and utter bliss while Hell is burning, unending torment. They are two completely opposite concepts that couldn't possibly be in the same place at the exact same time. And yet as Hoagie sat on his sofa with his girlfriend, Abby, on his arm he discovered that he was indeed trapped in both heaven and hell.

It was heaven in that Abby had fallen asleep with her head resting on his shoulder. He could hear her snoring, a sound that to his ear sounded absolutely adorable. The woman herself was always so collected. So strong and never letting weakness slip. It was so rare to see her like this and it always brought a smile to his face as he watched her rest.

However, as nice as having her resting and making such an adorable sound was, about the same time she fell asleep so did his right arm. It was tingling and numb as though he had hit his funny bone. Hmm, him hitting his funny bone, that seemed a tad ironic. Under any other circumstances he would have moved and flicked it about to get the feeling back into it. But were he to do so now, it would invariably wake Abby who was exhausted after going with him to clear out some rowdy gang members who were harassing some children downtown. The higher ups seemed to get kicks off of keeping her busy, even during the holiday season.

This left him with a wee bit of a problem. Either he could endure the annoying torture as the tingling in his arm got worse and worse, or he could wake her up and deprive her of her serene sleep. The aviator boy chewed his lip as he looked from his hand, which he was flexing rapidly to try and ward off the sensation from entering his fingers, to Abby who seemed both completely oblivious to the hell he was in as she unconsciously snuggled closer to him. A most serious debate indeed. Even more so then the time he had to choose between attending the Doctor Time-Space Convention or Yipper Con Eighteen.

And then, the tie-breaker silently came as she sighed contently in her sleep and muttered something he failed to pick up. She huddled closer into him and the motion caused her cap to drift down her face. Using his free hand, he quickly adjusted it then placed his face in said hand and moaned, knowing exactly what he would have to choose to do. He just didn't have the heart to wake her now when she finally got a break and looked so relaxed and at ease. Not that he wanted to deal with her agitation at being abruptly woken either. The teen boy merely groaned while slipping off his goggles, twirling them in his fingers in attempt to entertain himself and distract his mind from the growing tingling.

It was going to be a long night…

I wanted to do something 2/5. Wish it was longer.

Later.
