Gendo turned slowly at the sound of the voice and saw the gun pointed
at him. "You..."
"I won't allow you to do this. You're little better than the Old
Men."
"And you will be better?" Gendo asked contemptuously, regretting he
hadn't had his sidearm already in his hand.
"No, but I'll have her, and you won't."
"You bas--"
The gun barked, and the bullet struck Gendo directly in the forehead.
He fell to the floor, lifeless.
"Now, Rei... take me to Yui."
"Yes, Subcommander."

"Sorry to bother you, sir."
"Oh, it's no bother at all. I wasn't in the middle of anything. Now
what did you need?" Kozo Fuyutsuki turned away from the blinking
cursor on his now-blank monitor to look at the person that had just
entered his office.
