Ever since the TARDIS left them on the beach, he'd been staring at her. Not the fleeting, curious glances she'd been giving him, but full-on, unadulterated, shameless staring.

Rose shifted uncomfortably under his penetrating gaze. Was he upset with her for trapping him here? Was he angry with the universe for stealing his life from him? Was he disappointed in her and her desperate attempts to find him again? Did he just think of her as a clingy ex-girlfriend he was now stuck with for the next several decades?

A heavy weight settled in her stomach as she took a breath to steel herself before looking up at him.

I'm sorry got stuck in her throat as she finally saw his face. His eyes were intense and focused, with his pupils just slightly bigger than normal as his gaze raked slowly up and down the length of her body. Rose shuddered with desire; the tense knot melted from her stomach and the extra heat pooled in her belly. She licked her lips almost unconsciously. His nostrils flared and his jaw tightened as he, too, licked at his lips.

Rose leaned towards him, her eyes glued to his glistening bottom lip. The Doctor's hand ghosted across her cheek as he cradled her jaw in his palm. His Adam's apple bobbed as he bent down closer and closer, until she could feel the whisper of his breath across her lips. Her eyes fluttered shut as she tilted her head up and…

"Right, they only had two rooms, so we'll have to share," Jackie said, startling Rose back to reality.

She turned towards her mother. Her cheeks were on fire, but so were other parts of her, and she didn't care that it was rude, and she didn't care that her mother would know what they were getting up to as she yanked a room key from Jackie's hand.

"See you in the morning, Mum," she called over her shoulder, grabbing the Doctor's wrist and dragging him down the hall to their room.
