The army was vast

But the other was more so

The army was gold

But the other was black The men and the elves

Stood ready for battle

Ready and waiting

For the foe to attack What could have been done

To the brave, lovely elves

To twist them to orcs

Who can not stand the sun? How can those who still

Have what they were given

Bear to look at their kinfolk

And still not to run. Then, out of the blackness

A tall, horrid form

Came forth into battle,

(He blocked out the sky.) And with every sweep

Of the hand, dozens fell

The Ring being what

Held the one, only tie. The good won of course,

As good often does

But the Ring still survived

And the trouble just hid So now go the nine

From Rivendell's door,

To follow what Elrond

The wise one has bid. The One ring shall die!

The battle be won!

The elves will go West!

The man shall be King! The magic shall leave,

The deed will be done,

And all just because,

Of a plain, golden ring.
