A/N: So, I felt bad after writing "Rise Again", and this popped into my mind. (Actually, I wrote this last night, and "Rise Again" sometime in February. But I felt bad after publishing "Rise Again".) And this was inspired by two things: number one was the silver ring I first noticed Arthur wearing around episode 3x07, and number two was last night I watched "The Ring" with my best friend and somehow that contribued to my inspiration. (If you're into horrors/thrillers, I highly recommend it.) Anyway, I don't think this is one of the better things I've written, but perhaps you could review and tell me what you think? This is a drabble I wrote in like 5 seconds, so I really don't think it's too good, but that's your opinion. Thanks for reading. :)
Gwen had felt farther and farther away from Arthur lately. She'd see him in the castle corridors, but it never seemed like the right time to talk. He was always busy, and of course that was to be understood. And whenever he wasn't busy with his princely life and being a rough, tough, save-the-world kind of man, Gwen had her chores to attend to. And there were a lot of those.
Gwen couldn't give up. Her feelings were too strong, and she just hoped Arthur's were the same. Because if they weren't…
She'd invested too much in this already. She was a servant, and he a prince. She worked to live, and Arthur spent his time in the lap of luxury.
Gwen had been ready to give up completely, and Arthur sensed a change in her. It was in the way she talked, the way her brown eyes expressed her true emotions…
Now, he had to take matters into his own hands.
Yes, Gwen had been ready to give up completely, but there was something that changed her mind. One day, she came into her house, and saw something glimmering in a corner of the room.
She touched the object gingerly. On her pillow lay the ring of Crown Prince Arthur Pendragon.
And she knew that neither she nor Arthur could ever give up.
