Statistics

Statistically, Sasuke knew someone had to be kind to the moron.

And statistically, Sasuke also knew that someone had to be the dobe's friend.

And of course, Sasuke knew, statistically, that someone had to wipe the idiot's tears away and whisper all his fears into oblivion.

Sasuke knew from his statistics that someone had to care for the loudest shinobi in Konoha and keep an eye out for him.

Statistically, Sasuke knew that Naruto, despite his tough guy attitude, needed someone with him, just like Sasuke knew that he himself, reluctantly, also needed someone with him.

Everything made sense in Sasuke's head, down to the very last statistic, down to the very last strand of logic. But when asked why he was still by Naruto's side, through thick and thin, Sasuke knew it wasn't his numbers and probability that made him stay – it was Naruto himself, who made it seem like any logic in the world didn't matter,

so long as they were together.
