I DON'T OWN ONE PIECE
Pairing: Zoro x Luffy
Zoro's Illness
Luffy and the rest of the crew, apart from Nami, who was over at the rudder, sat beside the bed, which Zoro was laying on, asleep. His face was hot and flushed, his brow furrowed. Chopper sighed.
"Is the stupid swordsman gonna be alright?" Sanji asked. Chopper nodded.
"He's got flu, and a fever. Unless it gets worse, he'll be fine in a couple of days." He said. The crew left, to go about their business.
Two days on, and Zoro had not awoken since he had collapsed on deck, when he had first been carried to the bed, and checked over by Chopper. Luffy, Sanji and Chopper were around the bed.
"It's worse, right?" Sanji asked. He didn't like Zoro much, but he cared for all of his shipmates. Chopper nodded.
"The fact that he hasn't woken or eaten hasn't helped his state of health at all. All we can do at the minute is try to keep him cool and hydrated." Chopper said, with a sigh.
"Come on, Luffy." Sanji tried to get his captain to leave, but he just shook his head. Sanji shrugged, and he and Chopper left.
Zoro's face wasn't flushed anymore, but he was paler than salt, and he was sweating buckets. Luffy stayed with him, wringing out the flannel that they had put on his forehead, changing it for a cold one every so often. Another couple of days went past, and Zoro still hadn't woken up.
Luffy did sometimes leave his side. To sit on his favourite seat, the ram's head at the front of the ship, or to eat with the others. Apart from that he stayed. His first mate...was dying. He knew it. He didn't need Chopper to tell him.
The others were worried bout their captain and the swordsman. Luffy seemed to be fading away with Zoro.
That night, Luffy did something very un-Luffy-like. He refused to eat dinner. Even when Sanji tried to tempt him with meat, he didn't accept. After the others had gone to bed, Luffy climbed out of his hammock. He stood beside Zoro. He took of his hat, and placed it on the blankets over his first mate's chest, before dropping to his knees, beginning to cry. He gripped Zoro's hand, and cried, for hours. He sat on the bed, and pressed his saltly, tear drenched lips messily against Zoro's. He did this several times, before he dropped back to the floor.
Zoro's eyes opened slowly. He looked down at his captain, sobbing and trying to speak.
"Don't die...I...it won't be the same. You said you were gonna be the greatest swordsman in the world, you can't do that if you're dead! I love you, God damn it, don't die!" He said all this through streams of tears. Zoro gave a soft smile, and squeezed his hand. Luffy jumped, looking up.
"You're an idiot, Luffy." He said simply.
"Shush, Zoro, you're supposed to be dying." Luffy hiccuped, laughing through the tears. Zoro sat up slowly. He pulled his hand away from Luffy's, grabbing the front of his captain's top, and pulling him up, to clash their lips together roughly. Luffy smiled into the kiss, his laughter muffled all the while.
The next day, Zoro was up at the crack of dawn, doing push ups and exercise without his shirt on, in the cold air. The crew watched Zoro for a while, smiling, before going about their business. All apart from Luffy.
He approached the swordsman, who stood, putting his arm around Luffy's waist, pulling him into a soft kiss. He then realised that most of the crew were watching them, with dropped jaws. The two pulled apart, looking at the crew.
"You know..." Luffy started, still in the arms of Zoro, "I'm glad Nami isn't here." He said.
"Why is that, Luffy?" Zoro asked. Luffy grinned up at him, and chuckled.
"She might be a yaoi fan-girl!"
