Disclaimer: I do not own Doctor Who, unfortunately
A/N: This is a rough idea that has been in my head for a while now and I wanted to write it down.
Night was falling. I could feel it; I could feel the time changing and the dark rising. I was so close now, I could see it. I will not let them down. Not this time. Not for them. No, I decided, I must go on.
I was almost there. One more step and I could have been able to touch it, but my luck ran out. It was because THEY arrived. Their metal casing could not easily be seen in the light. My eyesight is usually good but they came too quickly. I just had enough time for them to announce my death with
"Exterminate!"
Chapter One – The Accident
The Doctor busied himself with the TARDIS console. He often did that, he noticed especially if he's thinking.
Since the Time War these thoughts were mainly nightmarish memories and the screams of his people. Everywhere was burning.
There were other times when he would remember that burnt orange sky. The citadel that was encased in a mighty glass dome that used to shine under the twin suns. Mountains that went on forever, slopes of deep red grass capped with snow.
He closed his eyes and sighed, he was getting old. He was 908!
No, he decided, I must move on. But he couldn't. So he ran…
(MEANWHILE IN THE TARDIS)
Amy and Rory were in their bedroom
"It SHOULD be Williams!" protested Rory, "Traditional, take the man's surname."
"But I like Pond." Amy countered, "The Doctor likes it so he can still say 'come along Pond!' which he did, at Christmas!"
"So…" Rory began but he was soon cut off by a sudden movement of the TARDIS
"What's the Doctor up to now?" Amy and Rory sighed in unison. They giggled and made their way to the console room.
(IN THE CONSOLE ROOM)
Sparks flew up in the Doctor's face as Rory and Amy burst through the door.
"Typical" complained Amy. "We're crashing aren't we Doctor."
It was a statement rather than a question.
"No, no, no, I've got everything under control." the Doctor said, obviously lying. Just as the words left his mouth, the TARDIS threw him backwards from the console so that he landed on the ground with a soft 'thump'.
"You were saying…" Rory asked
The Doctor groaned. "Well I know what I'm supposed to be doing," he began, "Whether or not I can physically do it or not is the question."
The TARDIS took an almighty tumble and the Doors fell open, revealing the Time Vortex.
The Doctor warned, "Don't look out! That's the whole of reality, the raw power of time and space, and it drives some insane!"
Like the Master he added in his head.
The Vortex was rough as it sent the small blue box onto its side, the side at which the doors were open.
The Doctor held onto the console. Amy and Rory weren't so lucky. They tumbled out of the TARDIS and fell into the Vortex. The last thing they heard from the Doctor was his terrible scream of "NO!"
They were falling. They could feel it. With their eyes closed, their hands groped out for each other. They got the first bit of luck that day as they found each other. But their luck ran out as they fell out of the Vortex. Falling. Falling…
