Disclaimer: All characters, references, and other things pertaining to 'Smallville' are property of the WB, DC Comics, Tollin-Robins, Al Gough & Miles Millar, and J. Siegal & J. Shuster; I am just writing for fun, and if I owned them, all would be good and clean in the World.

Author Notes: It all started with a question..."what's the craziest Smallville story you have (in your head), but couldn't write?...no fear or shame?" and I decided to actually write Mine.

Somebody Save Me

It's raining and Chloe Sullivan lies dead awake in her bed. She made the mistake of saying "good night" earlier and now, dreads it. She hears footsteps, closer, closer, and her heart races. She grips her pillow, and steels herself. Lightning crashes outside and the door opens. Even with the light from the hall, her room is pitch-black, and when she feels his touch, she thinks of Smallville.

Smallville doesn't even exist, but to Chloe, Smallville is everything. It's where her friends are, where she's happy and smart and has a real boyfriend and goes to school and life at home is...not this. Not feeling the heavy weight pressing on her bed, not the cold fingertips, the hot breath.

She squeezes her eyelids shut, to see Smallville more vividly, to focus pass the pain. Smallville is so much better than her real life. Her boyfriend is named Clark, and he is a space alien. He flies and jumps and runs super-fast in Smallville. That's where her best friend Pete shares her secrets, and the secrets are about Clark, nothing else, nothing bad. Where her girlfriend Lana is fourteen, older, but owns a coffee shop and where Lex is a billionaire, but is her friend, and hangs with her and her friends.

Chloe is a reporter for her school paper in Smallville and no story gets past her. She is thinking of the next scoop, the next story, the next adventure. She thinks about the boy that froze her ankle and Clark saved her. Or the boy that set the the classroom on fire and Clark saved her, again. She'll NEVER report her first kiss. Or her first time. But her first kiss, she'll lie to you, was in front of a barn, to Clark. He smelled like honey and jam and fresh bread. She gave the kiss. It wasn't taken from her. They held hands and dated and went to college and married. She became a star journalist and He became Superman. It was perfect. A textbook romance, not...not what's happening now. The bedsprings creek and the mattress rocks and Chloe wonders where is Clark. But he never saves her outside of Smallville.

So Chloe waits, endures, suffers because it will be over soon...it will be, she promises herself, and when it finally is and the door closes and the moisture from the kiss on her forehead dries...

She's alone...no, wait.

Chloe's in Smallville, with Clark, Pete, Lana and Lex.

The End
