"You knew I liked it."
"Yeah and so did I. You can get it too Maya!" Maya slams an open hand onto the table sluggishy water out from both the glasses.
"I don't want to be twinies with you Riley. This isn't the fourth grade. You knew I liked that dress. You knew I was saving for it. I'm sorry I don't have my mommy and daddy to buy me everything unlike you."
"That's not fair. I don't understand why we both can't wear i…"
"Because! This is mine. Or it was suppose to be mine. As in unique and special to me alone. We can have plenty of shared memories for our first prom. But the dress I wear was gonna be me. Now I'll have to find a new one in three days."
"There is a sale at…" Again Maya hits the table.
"Seriously? You're not gonna offer to return yours?"
"Why? Its not my fault I got it first or that your unwilling to match."
"You always have to win don't you?"
"What?"
"All my life its been you getting what you wanted. You manipulating situations. You with the puppy dog eyes. And bam everyone is putty in your hands."
"That's not fair Maya. And its not true."
"Yeah right. You know what keep the dress. Have a great time. Make sure to tell me all about it."
"Wait your not going? Okay I'll return the dress."
"Too late. Just don't feel like celebrating anymore. If you'll excuse me I need to get something from my locker before lunch is over."
