She hadn't spoken to him in 12 hours and her nails were already bitten down to the nubs. She'd gone through almost an entire bottle of orange juice just waiting for him to call the next day. The slow tapping of her fingers on the table were just about to drive her nuts when she heard the noise she'd been waiting for.
"Shit, Cait, I think he's calling," Mitchie blurted out, grabbing the phone out of her purse.
"It's about time, I was getting tired of sitting here doing nothing but watching you drink yourself into an orange juice induced coma," Caitlyn rolled her eyes and leaned back in the chair, readying herself to listen in on the phone call.
"Hello?"
"Mitchie? It's Nate."
"Oh! Hey Nick, I was starting to think you'd never call," Mitchie looked back at Caitlyn, earning herself a glare that said, "I know you did not just say that."
"I just got off work, I'm sorry," He laughed. "I would have called earlier but I didn't know if you were up."
"I've been up since 4 in the morning, I couldn't stop thinking about you," Mitchie smiled.
Caitlyn slapped her hand on her head and stood up to walk into the kitchen, looking for a piece of paper. She figured that if Mitchie was going to screw this up, she might as well do it a little classier. She found what she was looking for and hurried back into the living room and sat down next to Mitchie, scribbling something down on the paper.
'DO NOT SOUND DESPERATE.'
Mitchie looked at the paper and rolled her eyes, sitting up a little straighter, listening to Nate talk. She really had been waiting since four in the morning for this phone call and in her mind she was going to say whatever she wanted.
"So, I was thinking maybe we could go out again?"
"I'd really like that."
"Okay, so how's Friday night, I'll pick you up around 7?"
"That's perfect," Mitchie smiled wide which gave Caitlyn the idea that she was doing a little better to not screw this up.
"Alright then Mitch, I'll see you then."
"Alright, bye!"
Mitchie hung up the phone and looked around the room with a slightly panicked look on her face. She had no idea what to even wear. This was another date with one of the hottest guys she'd ever seen and she needed to look fantastic.
"Fuck Caitlyn, what do I wear," Mitchie stood up.
Caitlyn laughed and closed her eyes. She knew Mitchie was a bit flighty sometimes, but not this much. Then again, Nate Gray was a really good looking guy and Mitchie was about to go on another date with him.
"Well, whenever I go on dates with Shane, I don't worry about what I look like because he barely looks at my face, let alone what I'm wearing," Caitlyn thought about it for a minute.
"Well, Shane and Nate are brothers, do you think they'll start to act the same?"
"I wouldn't count on it."
Nate had hung up the phone smiling and fell back onto his bed. He had asked Mitchie to go out on another date with him and all he could think about was winning the bet he'd made with Shane. He felt bad but the pride was almost worth it.
"Nate, who were you on the phone with," Shane walked into the room they shared.
"Mitchie, I have a second date with her which means I'm one step closer to getting that picture," Nate smiled slyly at Shane before standing up and walking out of the room.
"You better have it by this weekend," Shane yelled out after Nate.
"Oh, don't worry. I will, you'll see."
