Turning Point
*I do not own L4D or any of its characters*
I was running.
Running from them.
Running from the infected.
There was a mob of them, screaming for my flesh. I turned and fired a couple of rounds from my nine millimeter. Two fell, but ten more replaced them. I decided that I would use the grenade I had picked up off of a dead soldier. I had seen enough war movies to know that all you had to do was pull out the pen and throw it. I dropped the grenade behind me and looked back at the horde surging like a tidal wave behind me. The grenade went off and blew a hole in front of the horde, but it was quickly filled.
I quickly took a left turn at a red light and found that the street I had just turned on to was filled with the undead. I couldn't turn back, so I made a mad dash for an alley next to a video store. A few infected were loafing around the alley and I managed to run into one. It took the advantage to take a chunk out of my arm. I screamed even louder than the horde that was trying to squeeze through the alley. I shoved the infected off me and downed three others that were running towards me.
I pulled myself up and stumbled into the backdoor of the movie store. I slammed the door shut and pushed a shelf stocked with movies onto the door. The infected pummeled the door endlessly. I looked around the movie store. The windows were boarded up with several pieces of thin plywood. It probably wouldn't withstand a mob of the undead, but they had no reason to knock them down.
I rummaged around behind the check-out counter and found the TV they use to rewind movies with and check to make sure it is not altered or damaged. I pressed the power button and the screen flickered on. At least the power was still on. I walked through the store and browsed through the various movie selections. I finally settled for a sappy romance flick.
I got a soda from the soda fridge, a box of candy from the candy rack, popped the movie in, and waited for my inevitable fate.
A group of marines were clearing the streets of a silent city. Two had wandered over towards a movie store on the side of the street. "Hey man, let's go see if we can't salvage some movies to bring back to the cruise ships."
"Alright, fine with me." One of the marines kicked the store door open and scanned the inside. They noticed a TV was flickering with a movie playing. "Hey, my wife made me watch this movie once. Two and a half hours long."
"Anybody home?" A lone infected female ran out from behind a shelf and charged at the two marines. They killed her with a few rounds to the chest. They walked over to her corpse. "Man, she was probably beautiful before she changed."
I am on a sort of writing spree while on vacation. The story was a little short, but hey, a oneshot's a oneshot.
In the story, there was mention of a cruise ship. One of the awesome-dudes that spokespersoned for L4D said the survivors were evaced to cruise ships. I may hit on that idea in my next story.
Review pleez!
