The golden sunlight filtered the lilac curtains, casting rays of sun around the room. Over in the corner, in her bed, Alia Pearson began to stir.
Pulling on a plain sky blue tee shirt and dark blue jeans, Alia hopped around the room, and ran a brush through her thick, pale blonde hair. Her blue eyes twinkled happily, as she ran down the stairs.
Tying up her trainers, the 11-year-old girl ran out of the open back door, into the garden. The bright sunrays hit her, and she stopped still, and looked around, catching her breath. Running on about further, she leapt over the brick wall at the end of the garden, into the field behind.
The field was full of bluebells; bright, blue flowers, soft to the touch. Alia loved the bluebell field; her parents owned it, along with the house, and most of her days were spent lazing around the in carpet of blue silk gracing the field.
She fell onto her back, and collapsed in the bluebells, staring up at the sky. She watched the fluffy white clouds in the blue summer sky drift past.
Alia's thoughts turned to the year ahead. While all her friends moved up to the local high school; Alia was to go to boarding school.
Hogwarts. That was its name. Weird, in Alia's opinion. The thing what bothered Alia most was not the fact she was leaving her friends behind, but the fact that the school's actual name was Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry.
When the letter addressed to Miss Alia Pearson arrived, Alia's parents told her she was a witch. Her mother was too. Her father was a non-witch….a Muggle, or something strange like that.
"Alia!" A distant cry from the house brought Alia back down to earth. She ran back to the house, where her mother presented her with breakfast.
"We're going to get your school things today, Lia," her mother said, "in a special wizarding place."
This puzzled Alia, but she said nothing, and carried on eating, thinking to herself that being a witch sure was strange!

A/N: my fingers hurt now, lol. The next part is where Alia goes to Diagon Alley – much more exciting, and funny!
Please bear with me – this is my first fic.
Luv y'all,
