A/N: A short little story about Jenny and Julian from The Forbidden Game. That pair was mean to be!!!!
Disclaimer: TFG and all its characters belong to L.J. Smith, who should write a fourth book in which Julian comes back to life!
"Love shall tread out the baleful fire of anger,
and in its ashes plant the tree of peace."
-Unknown
When Jenny thought of the shadow man many emotions filled her body and soul, almost as if he was still with her; still alive, breathing. She felt sadness, love, happiness, protection, mystery. When she thought of Julian during the last two games, at first, she felt anger towards him. She was angry at the Prince of Darkness for breaching the bond with her and Tom, hurting him, making her friends suffer, and playing games with their minds. It was horrible. It wasn't right.
But then, as the years passed, the anger slowly melted and faded away. She was no longer furious at the shadow man. And how could she be? All he had ever wanted was love and companionship, enough to watch over her for sixteen years, to protect her from anything that could have gone wrong.
Now that he was gone, she missed him. The way he described her beauty, his kisses, the way his soulful eyes looked into hers when he saved her from the water in the cave. She missed Julian much more than she ever missed Tom when he was away- this was not a simple ache in her heart, this was a waterfall of sadness that pounded on her heart with all its strength. Jenny now knew that she and Julian were always meant to be together, and she regretted every moment that she let him sacrifice himself for her freedom.
Now that the fire of her anger had burned out, with only ashes left, Jenny knew that someday they would meet again, and their love would plant a tree of peace in the ashes. After all, it was meant to be.
