Smiling
Mary-Jane looked up from her book at Peter and smiled. But he didn't appear to notice. Instead he continued to smile at Harry.
Those eyes full of love and passion, those lips eager to kiss Harry.
Mary-Jane studied Harry's face as he filled out a stack of paperwork for Oscorp, so deeply immersed that he didn't seem to
notice either of them staring.
Harry scratched his chin with the end of his pen and continued on. Peter continued to smile at him, not knowing that Mary-
Jane had seen, that she knew how he felt about Harry. Mary-Jane dropped her gaze back to her book and continued reading.
She found herself wishing that Peter would look at her like that, the way he had looked at Harry with eyes so full of love
and passion. She knew that he would never look at her like that nor would he ever smile at her with those same eager lips.
But if he smiled at her just once she knew that maybe, just maybe, she might have crossed his mind for one fleeting moment.
But for now seeing Peter smile at Harry like that it was good enough. Because all she had ever wanted was to see her best friend happy.
