Unclean
Author's Note: I know that this isn't very original, or even very good, but
I thought I'd give it a try. This was not meant to be in poetry form, it
just happened that way. A One-shot on why Kenshin is always doing the
laundry, Rated for insinuation of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
'Must be clean.
Must be unblemished.
Cannot have a single stain marring the color.'
1, 2, 3,
Hands methodically rinse the soap out of a kimono.
1, 2, 3,
'She must not have something un-perfect on her body.
She is a goddess,
she is untouched by death.
She is all that is good.'
1, 2, 3.
Drift to a time when he was a skilled assassin,
An Ishin Shishi killer.
Blood splattered the ground and rained from the sky in torrents.
1, 2, 3,
The world was colored red,
never giving respite to a weary soul,
lost in the abyss of evil.
1, 2, 3.
1, 2, 3,
His hands slip the kimono in and out of the water,
Cleaning it of stains.
1, 2, 3,
His sword slide through a body.
1, 2, 3,
His hands will never again be clean.
1, 2, 3,
The kimono is clean,
And he hangs it out to dry.
Water is clean,
Water is pure.
Water is ruined,
Made dirty by the clothes he washed.
Something must be sacrificed for another to be good.
1, 2, 3,
A life for a life,
Dirty for clean.
His innocence for hers.
1, 2, 3,
The cloth snaps sharply as he pulls it taunt,
It will not dry with wrinkles.
"Clean and white!"
1, 2, 3,
Stand up, take new clothes, sit down.
Peaceful life is never free.
1, and 2, and 3.
His life for hers it be,
1, 2, 3.
Author's Note: Ok, I realize that this may have been a bit confusing. It
was supposed to be Kenshin's washing the clothes, thinking about Kaoru and
how he is 'unclean' and an never touch her, so the cloths he washes must he
perfect. The 1, 2, 3, was supposed to be both a rhythm and the obsessive-
compulsive disorder. A person with obsessive-compulsive disorder, may of
many things, do things a certain amount of times, or risk feeling unclean.
This is only one of many ways the disorder can be manifested, but this is
how I chose to portray it. I hope you liked the one-shot to some extent,
please review and tell me what you think.
