Love is a Contest
"Hey Nejire, how's it going," Mirio Togata called out, waving his hand to get Nejire Hado's attention.
"Oh hey Mirio. How's Eri doing?" Nejire asked before she ran up to him.
"She's doing great. She's spending the day with Midoriya and Uraraka," Mirio answered, laughing at the memory of the pair blushing at the mention of them having a child according to their pink skinned friend, Mina.
"Aw, why didn't you tell me? I wanted to see the cutest couple around too!" Nejire complained with a puffy cheeked pout on her face.
"Sorry about that, but I was too busy focusing on what to make for lunch," Mirio said, before something flashed into his mind. He had wanted to try and help his socially challenged friend, Tamaki Amajiki with something that had been bothering him for a long time. "So…I know I might get into a lot of trouble for saying this, but I just wanted to tell you that Tamaki…has feelings for you," Mirio explained, a little nervous about how he was wording what he was saying. Nejire stared at Mirio for a couple of seconds before responding.
"Yeah, I know. It's pretty obvious," Nejire stated, leaving Mirio in complete and utter shock, his usual smiling face replaced with a dropped jaw and his eyes as wide as they could possibly be.
"Wait, you knew about that this whole time!? Well why didn't you say anything!? You guys could've been together by now! It's been years!" Mirio exclaimed, shocked at Nejire's admission. Nejire started laughing, leaving Mirio even more confused.
"Of course I like Tamaki. How could I not feel the same way about the absolute adorableness that is Tamaki? We're both waiting to make the first move. He knows that I feel the same way," Nejire explained once she got control of her laughter.
"…huh?"
"It's a game we're playing. We're both testing each other to see who'll be the first one to crack and confess first," Nejire explained.
"But…love isn't a contest," Mirio responded, still in shock from Nejire's explanation.
"Yes it is, and I'm winning!" Nejire exclaimed, jumping up with her fist in the air. Mirio placed his hand on his forehead, and slowly shook his head.
"No…no you're not," Mirio mumbled. As Mirio walked back to his room, he heard Nejire saying something about a plan to make Tamaki confess first. Mirio rolled his eyes, but grew a smile on his face, wondering what kind of plan Nejire had in mind for Tamaki.
