Wishful Thinking
Toph had often wondered if Sokka was blind as well.
For him to be able to get clobbered by her gifted earth-bending skills countless times after claiming to be a great Water Nation warrior made her think so. A brilliant warrior would easily be able to stop her. Maybe he didn't want to hurt her?
For him to not see that Suki could take care of herself when the gang crossed the perilous Serpent's Pass while fully knowing that she was a skilled Kyoshi warrior added to her belief. He seems to be really protective of the ones he loves.
For him to have her
blissfully clinging on to his arm as they and Aang rode Appa to save
Katara and not say anything about it afterwards made her suspicious.
He probably noticed. Did he have a small smile while looking at her?
Part of her felt that he noticed, and it negated her wondering side, which often pondered on why he never said anything about it. It was his perfect chance to tease her and laugh at the possibility that she liked him. Then he could painfully reject her as she pretended not to care.
Perhaps he liked her too?
Toph laughed. She was the only blind one.
