TIFFANY
I don't know how he did it. But he did. And here I am, in a hospital bed, only this time I'm happy to be here. He's sitting in one of those blue chairs next to my bed, completly exhausted, sleeping. After all it is the middle of the night. I slowly get up from the bed, smile at the sleeping Pat and walk towards the window. The lights on the street mirror in the rain, it's a cold autumn night. I look over to the small bed next to mine and I have never felt better. That cute face, those little fingers and that guy right next to her is something I won't give up.
''What are you thinking about?'' his voice startled me a bit, ''Why are you awake, Tiff? It's one a.m. You should sleep, we're going home tommorow.''
''How did you do it? How do you do it? Five years ago, I would have easily said no to having kids, heck it took me a while to say yes now.'' I ask him, looking up in those blue eyes. He takes my hand and leads me to my bed. He lays me down and lays next to me.
''You really want to know?'' I nod in answer and snuggle closer to him.
''Ok, then I'll tell you a story. Once upon a time, one man-''
''I bet he was a prince.'' I interrupt him.
He smiles, kisses my temple and continues,''Fine, let's say he was a prince, anyway, he met a girl-''
''And she was a princess, if you're going to tell me a story tell something imaginary, Pat.'' He rolls his eyes and smiles.
''No, she wasn't, she was just an ordinary girl, now would you stop interrupting the story? So we continue, the prince always thought he would one day find his princess, one that will always be there for him and the one that will be just like he was. So he met that girl and he thought she was the princess, but that girl told him he was crazy, she showed him that those princesses don't exist, and he started to think that he'll never find her. So she left and he was very sad, but then he found his princess, she was just as crazy as he was-''
''He was crazier.'' I look up, my eyes already closing.
''She met his crazy by doing something crazy herself.'' I smiled as I remembered the sentence. ''Suddenly he wasn't crazy anymore because she wasn't crazy either. And then there was a dance and a kiss and a lot of happy people around-''
''You forgot a letter'' I say half asleep.
''And a letter.'' He adds,''And somehow they lived happily ever after. You can feel it, I can feel it, and that's how I did it. Because we both feel a happy ever after.''
''If it's me reading the signs, I'd say we found a silver lining.'' I say before snuggling closer and falling asleep.
PAT
''We did do it. We did find a silver lining.'' I smile and kiss her forehead gently. Just before I close my eyes I mumble '' 'Cause we're not crazy for believing, we're crazy 'cause we did it.''
