Prologue-Observations
Dr. Michael Thompson sighed as he watched the silver-haired female experiment through a Plexiglas window. She was throwing her third tantrum this week. One of his colleagues reached for a sedative filled syringe on a nearby table.
"Don't bother it's almost over." Dr. Michael said tersely. His colleague paused, skeptical but sure enough a moment later the girl slumped to the floor, sobbing and completely worn out. Dr. Michael's colleague glanced at him.
"I hope she gets over this soon. It's damn annoying." He muttered. Dr. Michael just nodded. For a human eleven year old this kind of behavior would be unacceptable but this girl wasn't human.
She was a chimera: part human part white tiger and part red dragon. She had iridescent red and silver scales running up her back and fanning out across her shoulders. From those scales ran black stripes of varying width and length. Her skin, while naturally tan, was pale from lack of sunlight and made the scales and stripes stand out vividly. Little Ah-hin was the result of years of research and trial and error.
Dr. Michael wondered if she would survive until his boss, and the mastermind behind these hybrid experiments as well as chimeras, took control of the world. These experiments along with the chimeras were to be his army.
"Soon we will be going places little one." Dr. Michael murmured.
He was worried though. Ah-hin and the others had been really shaken over the 'death' of Chessa, one of the labs older experiments. She had been both a mother and big sister to the younger kids so their pain was understandable but Ah-hin seemed to be taking it the hardest. Lately in addition to the tantrums she'd been having violent mood swings. One minute she'd be calm and as close to cooperative as Ah-hin got, then she'd be mad for no apparent reason. However she never took her anger out on the other experiments. Her rage was always directed at the scientists and most often Dr. Michael himself. One of these days she was going to blow up at the wrong scientist and they would have a blood bath on their hands.
Dr. Michael sighed and turned to his computer to make some notes. All data on the experiments had to be recorded after all. So much had been lost in the attack on the other lab they backed up all their files twice over now. It was a pain but it would be worth it in the long run he supposed. That attack had not only cost them a well established and stocked lab but two of their experiments: Chessa and Aiden. The two had escaped when the dragon shape shifters had attacked and no one had seen hide or hair of them since.
In all appearances the two experiments really were dead; killed by the dragons but since there had been no bodies they had no way of knowing for sure. It was a shame really. Chessa and Aiden had been their best experiments made in that base. Oh the other kids were amazing but they had their flaws. Ah-hin and Abby had tempers, Ezra was a flirt, and Mizuki was too kind natured. Perhaps it was good that two new experiments were coming in. Maybe they would help cover up the flaws of the current experiments. But that might be asking too much…They were only kids after all.
