"Looks like we'll be trapped here for a while," Chat Noir said, punching the thick wall around them. He had already used his Cataclysm before they were transported, so that was out of the question.

The akumatized villain they were facing had the ability to transport people wherever they wanted, although there were some limitations. He had scooped Marinette up in his arms to take her to safety when the villain had shot them with his powers.

"Where are we?" Marinette asked, running her fingers over the bars in front of them.

"I think we're in some kind of jail," he replied. His ring gave a warning beep. "I'm going to change back soon… I hope Ladybug hurries up."

Marinette bit her lip and looked down at her bag. Something told her that Ladybug wouldn't be on the scene for quite some time.

"How much more time do you have?" she wondered.

"About two minutes." He looked around the cell, trying to find any opportunity to get out. The bars were too thick to slide between, and there were no windows. "I almost wish I hadn't saved that civilian with my Cataclysm."

"Chat!" she cried in a scolding voice. "I can't believe-"

He laughed. "I was just kidding. But it's going to be a problem if I change back." He paused. "Not that I don't trust you, or anything, it's just-"

"You don't have to explain yourself, Chat Noir," she told him. Although, it hurt that he was willing to share identities with Ladybug and not Marinette. They had been spending a lot of time together on her balcony at night, and yet, he still didn't trust her. His ring gave another beep. "Why don't I close my eyes until you can recharge again?"

He hesitated. "You'd do that for me?"

She shrugged. "I don't see that I really have a choice. I respect your boundaries too much to do anything else."

"You're purr-fect, Princess." He grinned at her.

Marinette closed her eyes, and then put her hands over them to stave off temptation. Ever since the first night Chat Noir had accidentally happened upon her rooftop, Marinette had developed a crush on him. That made it incredibly hard not to peek as the light from the dropped transformation flashed for a moment.

Chat Noir had a shushed conversation with what she assumed to be his kwami. From what she gathered, his name was Plagg and he liked cheese. She pretended she hadn't heard anything though.

"So, um, Chat Noir," she said, trying to make small talk. "What are you doing after your patrol tonight?"

He raised his eyebrow, though she couldn't see it. "How do you know I'm patrolling tonight?"

She internally cursed herself. Ladybug was the one who had discussed patrols with him, not Marinette. "I, um, don't you normally patrol on Thursdays? I just thought it was your routine."

"It changes from time to time," he replied. "Why do you ask?"

"If you wanted to, I would, um, like it if you dropped by." She hoped her face wasn't as red as it felt. It was must have been totally obvious that she liked him.

"Don't open your eyes," he cautioned.

"Why would I-" she started to ask. His arms wrapped around her waist and his lips met hers all of a sudden. They held it for a moment before he slowly pulled away.

"I have to go save Paris for now, but I'll meet you around midnight, okay?"

She nodded. "I'll be waiting."

"Plagg, claws out!" he said, and then there was another flash of light. She opened her eyes as he used Cataclysm on the outer wall, and then he put an arm around her. "I'll drop you off on the street. Do you think you can make it home safely?"

"Yeah, I'll be fine."

Once Chat Noir had bounded away on the rooftops, Marinette stared after him, still feeling his kiss on her lips.

"Marinette!" Tikki bopped her on the forehead. "Daydream about him later! Don't you have a job to do right now?"
