The Hunt

He huddled in between the bushes. It was several weeks ago that he first began to observe her. Since then he was able to analyse her daily routine.
She awakes every day at 9am and eats breakfast together with her nerve wracking little brother. Following that is an extensive bath. In such moments he always pays rapt attention how her body is gleaming in the sun rays. He couldn't keep his eyes off her. Later she takes a long walk where she goes a great distance away from the house whereas her brother doesn't go 50ft. He liked it more to climb up the walls and do gymnastic exercises on the couch.
He still needed to wait. The fence which separated him from freedom – from her – may be opened several times a day but she needed to be outside at the same time as him otherwise all would be in vain.
Finally! The gate was opened. He ran outside storming towards her. All precautions, all plans were forgotten.
She heard his approach.
She got frightened and sprinted as fast as she could away from the danger. From him.
He was hot on her heels.
He caught up to her.
She could nearly feel his breath on her neck.
She made a giant leap and was able to jump into a tree. She climbed higher and higher until she was nearly indistinguishable.
He circled the tree a few times panting and barking at the cat, which was high up in the tree impossible to get at.
