"Baby, listen. Every time you see my face in a magazine or on the news, think about how much I love you and how much I need you. Think about how I love you more then I've ever loved anyone in my entire life, and remember that even though I can't physically see you, I see you in my dreams every night." He stopped to look at his girlfriend, and felt tears come to his eyes as he saw another tear slip down her cheek.
Peter smiled and looked down at Wendy sleeping on his chest. He sighed as he thought about how much his life had changed in the last few months. After Wendy left Neverland, he noticed he could no longer enjoy his everyday adventures. And, with Hook and the Lost Boys gone, he could do nothing but miss Wendy. One night, he decided he needed her and loved her- and that he had to grow up.
Peter left Neverland in an upset, heart-broken, and lovesick rage. He knew what he was giving up- and he knew he would miss it- but he knew what he was gaining by leaving, and he wanted that more then he'd ever wanted anything in his life. As he sat in his bed, with Wendy sleeping soundly next to him, he could still faintly feel how he felt that night. He remembered taking one last look, through tear-filled eyes, at the place he'd called his home his whole life. He sighed, sniffled, and turned away from Neverland forever.
Before he knew it, he was living with the Darling's, and found himself happier then ever. His name was still Peter Pan, as he did not legally belong to the Darling family. As it turned out, the Darling's could not legally adopt any of the Lost Boys, because they were not legally from any place or family. So, all the boys kept their names, and began their new lives in the real world.
But, that's not the subject of today's story. We are not talking about how Peter Pan, the boy who would not grow up, reacted to the real world or his new life. We are not talking about how Peter felt on his first day of school, or after his first punishment. We are talking about how Peter Pan, the boy who would not grow up, grew up. We are talking about Peter and Wendy, how they lived day by day, and watching with a hopeful eye to see if they really do live happily ever after.
