Young Akira Shintara sets out on a journey to restore the lost history of her clan and of the Demon World. She meets many interesting people, and discovers many new things, but the Makai is a very dangerous place, and Akira has yet to learn just how dangerous it can be. Knowledge is power, and power is what reigns in Demon World. Can Akira keep her knowledge from destroying us all?

For centuries my family has been recognized as the greatest source of knowledge in the Makai. My ancestors wrote books, and kept them, for the use of those few individuals in demon world who enjoyed expanding their minds. We were widely known as the only library in all of Demon World, and we sold information for a living. We were also widely known as the only humans brave enough to set up shop dead center of one of the harsh-ish villages in Demon World; Nuemecca. Of course all of that is in the past now, partially because my family died in a fire not long ago, but also because the entire history of our clan, and nearly every ounce of written knowledge was lost in the fire.

My name is Akira Shintara, I am the last remaining descendant of the Shitara clan, it is my duty to restore the knowledge that was lost. It is my duty to re-write centuries of history, all the while documenting current affairs and new discoveries.
