Lover of the sea

The night was young and the world seemed layered in twilight, as the fairest of maids ran sobbing through the gardens of the manor by the sea. Her skin was white and pure save for the delicately placed light gold freckles upon it. Her hair was long flowing amber brown locks that framed her face and eyes, which were a beautiful dark brown as deep as the sea. She ran down the cobblestone path leading from the manor's gardens to the sandy ocean shore.

The maid's beauty was nothing compared to the shoreline in the moonlight. The beach was like a beautiful surrealistic painting. The sand was like silver powder, rocks all in beautiful earthly tones. The ocean was of deep blues and greens mixed with lighter shades of blues, greens and silvers. The sky was like a deep blue silk sheet open spread with diamonds sown into it. She ran through this beautiful landscape and into the swirl of the ocean until it had swallowed her up to her knees the skirt of her elegant green dress splayed out and floating around her.

" I want someone to love me."

She cried out to the open ocean, silver tears falling from her face.

All the innocence, loneliness and heart ache that she felt welled in those silver tears as they fell from her face and into the sea.

Now there is a beautiful magical creature nether man nor seal but more charming and cunning than both that is bound by magic and its gentle heart to answer the heart felt and emotion filled tears of any maid that sheds and shares these tears with the sea.

So as the maid stood there weeping to the sea a beautiful golden brown seal with silken fur approached and began to circle her. Any maid so fair and pure cannot help but stop and notice or follow such a beautiful magnificent creature especially one that seems almost magical in its movements.

The seal lead the maid on a merry dance through the surf and to the shore, to the point that the maid had almost forgotten her sorrow. But when she reached the shore she could not find the seal anywhere and once again she felt alone, so alone that once again tears began to well in her eyes.

As the first tear fell a voice as strong and deep as the sea and as gentle as a dove came from behind.

" Why must I suffer that such a beautiful girl cry?"

The maid turned to find a wonderfully handsome man with long soft brown hair tied behind his back in a lose plait and lovely light olive skin, he was dressed only in loose cream pants. But none of these were what held the maids attention, what held her attention were his eyes they were not human they were full deep pools of golden amber brown they were hauntingly powerful one could lose them self in those eyes.

The man wiped the tears from the maid's face with his hand and said.

" Must I ask again… why are thee so filled with sorrow? For it does not befit such a beauty to cry."

The maid looked away from the man and said.

" I cry kind sir because I am alone. You see my parents sent me to fulfil a contract of marriage but the man to whom I was to wed does not want me and now even the seal with whom I was playing has left me."

The man used his hand to turn her face to look at him and said.

" My dear girl you are not alone for I never left you and never will I promise. I mealy lead you on a dance through the waves to cheer you up before our formal meeting. If I have upset you I am truly sorry."

With that he lent in and kissed her politely and very chaste, he then held her in the circle of his arms as she lent in to him a felling of comfit and security eased within her.

Finally she said in a soft low voice full of amazement.

"You… you were the seal weren't you?"

To this he smiled held her tight and kissed her head and said.

"Yes."
