Knowledge that frees them
"It must be knowledge that frees them, not force"
I own nothing but my own ideas.
Altaïr should probably just get onto his horse, and leave Masyaf. He feels naked without his weapons humiliated at being viewed as novice again, despite his skill. Something in him burns at that knowledge.
He is, the best at stealth. He has worked hard on his weapons skills over the years, and it was a combination of unorthodox tactics and a show of leadership, that earned him his rank at age 25.
Looking back at his failed mission, he hasn't used any of those particular skills well. Stealth is not, after all, letting your opponent know you are right there. It wasn't even supposed to be a fighting mission in the first place.
He needs practice. He walks over to a flag.
"La shai'a waqi'on motlaq bal kollon momken" He reminds himself, as he picks it up.
He has less weapons now. He's going to have to rely on other methods. Thankfully he has a unique ability for gathering intelligence. He's got a tower to climb today.
But first, some practice.
There is a saying, that when you walk a mile in another man's shoes, you understand him better.
Desmond is not only, in someone else's shoes, but in their body. Its weird circumstances, involving genetics, but in some ways it's pretty amazing, being able to see a world no one else alive has.
Despite all the miles , he has walked in his ancestors shoes, he does not understand the man very well.
Surely, he would want his weapons and rank back, and would be running to complete the missions.
Instead, he's acting like Batman or something. Climbing a lot of buildings, picking up flags (why the flags? What did he even need them for), and saving civilians who are being abused by guards.
There seem to be an unreasonable amount of abused civilians. Enough that they should have revolted or something by now. Is this guilt? Stress release? An attempt at redemption?
Whatever it is, it makes Desmond nervous. He's supposed to be synchronizing with his ancestor, and getting to a certain memory block. Preferably, before Vidic decides it would be faster if he was in a coma.
Synchronizing with Altaïr seems to require being so good at stealth, that he would out stealth a ninja, and a lot of beating up abusive guards. And climbing. Endless climbing.
"At least there are no never-ending lines of people carrying pots here." He consoled himself.
As usual, happy birthday Desmond!
Altaïr's was on January 11th, so very belated happy birthday to him too!
In part also written for Minecraft Guardiansaiyan, who asked if there were going to be anymore stories in the mini-games verse, well this is sort of a follow up. Sorry its so late.
