Sayonara
Yumi took one last look behind her, finding nothing. Nothing at all. A look of vile contempt twisted her features, and she swung her head away from the nothing.
It would be just like him to leave too.
She felt a familiar pain crouch up behind her eyes, and she nearly fell to the ground in desperation.
Don't let me cry yet!
Before she knew what she was doing Yumi had picked up her legs and had begun to run. Where? Why? Only God knew, she supposed. Pain wrenched at her, sparking her insides into a pained fire. The sky should've been raining, but it wasn't—dark clouds covering the night with menacing volume and refusing to let the dry ground have a refreshing drink.
I told him to leave! I told him good-bye! And he left!
Idiot. What else was he going to do? Stay for her?
Hahahaha! You idiot! You idiot! You IDIOT.
Yumi felt incredibly cold inside despite the fire that tore her apart, and she felt her tears fly by her face without ever touching her cheeks. No sounds whispered out of her mouth until her legs brought her to the bridge of the great factory.
The factory's where it all began.
Yumi's head dipped down to gaze at the ever-changing dark waters that flowed beneath her. She dropped to her knees at the side of the bridge and sobbed. Sobbed. Then sobbed some more.
I told him good-bye and he left.
Why did she say things when she wanted it the other way?
I told him "sayonara" and he left.
Thunder crackled above her, but still declined to shower the city with any rain. Yumi's gaze turned upwards at the clouds, and as a new rumble rippled its way across the sky she screamed at it.
You idiot!
Silence passed from her lips as she melted down against the bridge's cold metal, staring down at the water. The next thing that came out of her mouth was a sob. Then another sob. The first raindrops of the season finally gave in and began to fall down with amazing weight. They splashed against Yumi's heaving form, weaving down through her hair, falling onto her skin and down her clothes, having no discretion as to where it touched. Yumi closed her eyes and continued to cry.
Sayonara.
