Ash leaves Pallet Town, wrecks Misty's bike, gets to Viridian, gets Jesse and James arrested and then fired from Team Rocket for starting shit so close to Team Rocket's main public face and legal money intake.
Ash gets to Pewter, wrecks Brock's shit with the water sprinklers and 20K volts to the nips, tells Brock to let his younger siblings start taking on some of the responsibilities that he's been hogging. Pewter Gym gets put on notice for child labor, which brings Brock's parents back, but since Pokemon trainers are all ten the notice gets dropped because who honestly cares.
Ash gets to Cerulean, wrecks Misty's pretentious shit with 40K volts to the nips, tells Misty to either whip her lazy sisters into shape or cut ties with their rapidly sinking shit. Misty goes for the latter. Cerulean Gym immediately goes under due to indecent workplace conduct and giving away badges. Misty then gives Ash a badge. Nothing is found unusual about this.
Ash heads to Vermillion, tries to deal with Lt. Surge, accidently dregs up Pikachu's past. Cue character development based level up, Pikachu kicks Raichu's ass with 80K to the nips and Ash reports Surge for steroid use and poke-doping. Vermillion Gym immediately goes under and Team Rocket loses a very profitable chunk of their drug business.
Ash goes to Celadon, opens his big mouth, injures Erika's even bigger ego and gets banned from the Gym despite the open door policy on all Indigo League Gyms. Ash reports it, the gym goes under investigation, and recreational drugs are found hidden among the foliage. Ash gets the badge by assisting Officer Jenny in the raid and defeating a doped up Erika in the process. Team Rocket loses their biggest drug provider.
Ash goes to Fuchsia, gets immediately attacked with bladed weapons, one of which was the badge. Ash reports to the authorities, Fuchsia gym goes under for carrying unregistered weapons. Team Rocket loses their biggest weapon buyer. Ash keeps the badge.
Ash goes to Saffron. Sabrina's a creepy bitch. Ash raids Silph Co. instead. Gets badge for heroic deed. Nobody's reported. Cautionary investigation turns up no results when the whole investigation team disappears and are promptly forgotten about. Sabrina gets new dolls. Everyone who matters wins.
Ash goes to Cinnabar. The island was blown up in a genetic experiment. Ash finds a badge in the wreckage. Nobody cares about Blaine.
Ash goes back to Viridian. Giovanni poops himself a little. Ash steps into the gym. Giovanni poops himself a lot. Ash gets through the gym. Giovanni's fancy chair is now brown and dripping. Ash holds out his hand. Giovanni gives him the badge. Ash leaves. Giovanni goes to take a cold shower.
Ash goes to the Pokemon League. With over half of the gyms under investigation or shut down, Ash becomes Champion since he's the only one who still wants the job.
Ash goes to Cerulean Cave. Mewtwo dies after reading his mind. Ash wins.
