Cries echoed through the small house as Cas tried to silence his daughter.
"Shh, please sweetheart, please go to sleep," he whined.
Castiel hadn't slept in almost two days. His husband helped at night but Cas still woke up and tried to take care of her so Dean wouldn't be tired at work. It's been hard since they had Mary. Dean's been working long hours so Cas can stay home with her like he wanted to but the baby seems to prefer her father that works all day. Unlike his husband Dean had little problems when it came to quieting Mary. All Dean had to do was pick her up and hold her close and she would stop screaming so he could fix her problem whether it be a dirty diaper or a hunger or just exhaustion. Castiel had more difficulty, no matter what he did his daughter didn't seem to want to stop crying for him.
The front door opened as Cas paced the living room. He was so frazzled he didn't notice Dean come in and take off his jacket.
"Honey, I'm home," Dean cheers with a huge smile on his face, that is until he saw the state of the man he loved, "Babe, are you okay?"
"No, Dean, I am not okay! I can't get her to stop crying! I-I, I don't know what else to do, I've tried everything!" Cas cried.
He was a mess. His face was partially shaved but the parts that weren't had grown pretty long and his hair was greasy cause he hadn't had a chance to shower yet and his shirt was covered in baby food and probably vomit as well. Dean felt so bad looking at Cas.
"Give her to me, go wash up and go to sleep, I've got her tonight," Dean says, reaching out for his daughter.
"No, tonight was supposed to be date night," Cas said sadly.
"We can have date night tomorrow night. Really sweetheart, I'll call Sam and see if he minds and if he does we'll have a night in, or one of your siblings could take her, but you need sleep. Okay? Date night can wait. Your sanity is way more important," Dean suggests, somewhat jokingly, as he took Mary from the exhausted man before him.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, go shower and shave, I'll come to bed once I get her down."
Cas nods and goes up stairs. Once he's out of sight Dean calls his younger brother to let him know they don't need a babysitter tonight and Sam agrees to take her the next night instead. Mary fell asleep quickly and Dean placed her in her crib and went down the hall to his and Cas's room to find Cas out cold on the bed,his hair still wet and his towel on the floor. Dean laughed and picked up the towel and hanging it in the bathroom before changing and climbing into bed with his clean shaven husband. And to think they started as a pizza man and a babysitter.
