ugh. Can I hate this? I think I do.
neh. Terrible ending too.
no owning naruto.
In the wild, wolves and ravens rely on each other for survival.
The wolf can hunt for days at a time, and find nothing. But when it sees a familiar black cloud in the sky it knows that the ravens are signaling where prey has fallen.
And the raven needs the wolf, to tear open the flesh of the dead and reveal the meal to the world.
They are enemies. Competitors for food, space, sky, on any other terms they would attempt to tear out the other's throat. (Though perhaps the raven would go with the pecking out of eyes.)
But here, in the common desperation for food, they dive in together, teeth and beaks tearing at the blood and meat as one, until nothing remains but the palest bones.
Without the raven, the wolf could have starved to death many times over. Without the wolf, the raven would have had to fly many miles to find food, killing itself in the journey.
In the wild, the raven and the wolf cannot kill each other (no matter if they really want to), for then they will be killing themselves.
That is why Kakashi asks Sasuke "what after? What after the kill?"
That is why Naruto wants Sasuke to give up his goal, and come back. Naruto knows the way of the wild.
That is why Itachi has allowed Sasuke to live, to grow, to hate.
And that is why, every night, Sasuke dreams of death. He dreams of the wolf killing the raven, the wolf killing himself.
But that is not just the way of the wild- it is the way of the shinobi.
