"It will happen soon! So soon!" A mother says to her family.
"Yes dearest it will." replies her husband.
"I can't wait! I hope he doesn't take much longer. Mom, Dad, why must he make us wait?" Their daughter is beside herself with excitement. Though she is happy, she is worrying about what is taking her bother so long. She wasn't told that she had a brother. She just felt it from deep inside her gizzard.
As they are speaking a small sound quiets them.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
I try to break free of my too-small home.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
I must break free!
Tap! Tap! Tap!
I must break free!
Tap! Tap! Tap!
My family awaits!
Tap! Tap! Tap!
I can't keep them waiting much longer.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
Tap! Tap! -CRACK!-
I did it!
I shake off the remaining pieces of my egg and stare into the faces of my family for the first time.
