Selfish Need
I need her to live
Not so that she can live her dreams
If she survives, she'll achieve them anyway
I need her to live for me
For my sustenance
For my sanity
For me to remain whole
Selfish reasons
But I need her to live
I need her heartbeat to anchor me to the world
Her breathing to tie me to reality
And for some reason, I know she will live
She will do that
For me or for herself
I don't know
But I will be eternally grateful
