Prelude to...

For as long as I can remember, it's been this way. I wake up, go to the park, and I watch people. They seem so busy with the same things every single day.

One thing I can't seem to explain is that they all just ignore me…

They can't seem to see me...

They can't seem to hear me…

They very literally walk right through me…

It's like I'm a ghost, like I don't even exist.

You would think it's a sad way to live right? You would think I should've gone mad with loneliness long ago right?

But it's not that bad really; In fact it's actually kinda fun. I see the same people every day so I started coming up with stories for them.

I would say the only time I do get a little depressed is when I start thinking about my story. I don't know anything about myself. I don't my name, where I'm from, or how old I am. All I do know is that I can't interact with people and for some reason I'm wearing this strange but quite fashionable uniform.

Up until now it's been a very peaceful life. But recently there have been strange things happening. Every once and a while, I would see them, Strange and terrifying creatures wearing grotesque white masks. They chase humans with chains sticking out of their chests. And like clockwork, these people in black uniforms would strike them down with the swords they all seem to carry.

One day as I was walking through some alleys, a little girl with a chain in her chest ran up to me, screaming frantically.

"Save me! Please save me!" she yelled.

"You can see me?" I inquired completely shocked.

Before she could respond, one of those things wearing masks came crashing down, shaking the earth around us. It let out a sickening cry and then its tail shot out and grabbed the little girl from besides me. Before I could react it devoured the girl.

"She was delicious! I would've shared but she's so tiny! No hard feelings right?" He asked in a monstrous voice.

That's when things got hard to remember…all I remember is feeling furious. I had finally found someone who could see me and I let her die without so much as lifting a finger to help her…

Next thing I remember, I was covered in blood. The masked creature was shred to pieces. And in my hands were two sinister looking daggers that curved back near my elbows.

"Why?! Why did you kill me? This doesn't make any sense." He coughed out before fading away into nothing.

What happened? Where did these daggers come from? How was I able to kill this thing? I don't even know how to fight. Am I like those people in black uniforms? Why did that monster sound like I betrayed him? What am I?
