Rin hates the water. It's bad enough that it reminds him of the past he so wants to forget and now, it is something that steals his rival's attention from him.

Sure, he is the one who asks for a match via swimming in the water but heck, it doesn't mean the guy can just ignore him or avoid him whenever it's not about the water or swimming.

No, he carries no other emotion the the raven head other than hatred and the odds. It just so happens he can't stand the thought of someone like Haru not paying attention to him.

That and the red-haired hates the water generally so no, it isn't because of Haru's love for the water.

Meaning he still hates the guy as whole and for not paying attention to him and he also hates the water because he hates it as it is.

Nope, he isn't jealous of the water for being his rival's love. Absolutely not.

Haru stares at Rin in a very confused face while the guy is glaring at him, his hand above preventing any escape.

"Why are you avoiding me?" he asks, eyes narrowed and looking straight to the the other's blue eyes.

"Training," the other will answer simply, not getting why the red-haired is angry. "And didn't you say we should meet in the tournament?"

The angered teen will snap out of it and frown a little at his actions. He loses his hold in his hands and moves them back to his pockets.

"I see," he looks at the black-haired who is still staring at him with eyes that want explanation. "You guys should have improved."

Not that Rin can just simply explain 'cause he himself doesn't knows what just happens to him.

The guy doesn't answer and just stares. "Well, if that's all, I'm going," he says emotionlessly and walks away.

The red-haired can faintly hear Haru's teammates calling him and he stops the guy from leaving by gripping his hands. The quiet swimmer looks at him in question.

"If I win the race...," he really can't understand why he is saying this. "Can you go with me somewhere?"

"No," the black-haired answers immediately and looks away. "I can go with you now."

"Even if it means you'll miss swimming?"

"..."

Haru doesn't say anything and just moves to Rin's side.

And the red-haired is definitely a goner.

Drat! He isn't supposed to be blushing and holding his rival's hand. He's supposed to hate him and is not jealous of the water!

He isn't supposed to like the fact that Haru will choose him over water!

But then again, it's just 'supposed' and not real.

a/n: OOC much? I wonder which is better Rin being jealous of the water or Makoto? I mean I did write a light MakotoHaru first than this...
