I was wondering what Annabeth's life had been before she left for Camp Half-Blood and this is what I think might've been like.

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters, all rights go to the mastermind behind Percy Jackson and the Olympians and The Heroes of Olympus, Rick Riordan.

Author's Note: We don't know what the real name of Annabeth's stepmother is. We have only met her as Mrs. Chase in the Titan's Curse in chapter 16. I, however, am calling her Susan. I probably read that name in a fanfic story and I have been stuck with it since. . I don't know what story I'm talking about so if one of you guys know please let me know so that I can give credit to the author for the name.

I was four when my father married again. He married Susan and she hated me. I could see it in her eyes, so did my father. He, however, did nothing about it. For a four year old I was above average and my intelligence surpassed other four year olds. I was always planning ahead and I already had a love for architecture. My room was filled with books about math and architecture. When Susan first stepped into my room her jaw went slack. She had found me sitting by the window with a book written in Ancient Greek that talked about the ancient architecture of Greece and Rome. At first we argued over small things like not leaving my books in the living room especially when her friends were due to come over. Once, when I was five, I left one of my architecture books that contained mainly the math involved in the building of Hoover Dam in the living room table. That evening a couple of her friends from her work came over to drink some wine and meet my father. They found the book and they asked Susan if it was my father's book. I came into the living room looking for the book and lets just say that it was the day I discovered I can't have a conversation about mathematical equations with Susan's friends at five without them freaking out.

As my intelligence grew the arguments grew hotter. She just couldn't understand me. She tried treating me like a normal child but that didn't work because I wasn't your typical child. I detested cartoons, I preferred the history channel and she just couldn't grasp the concept. When I turned six Susan had Mathew and Bobby and she became weary of me more so than normal. She would refuse to let me near them; it was like she didn't want them to catch a virus or something. That was before the monsters started showing up at our doorstep. One evening, when I was 7, I was reading outside by the swing that hung from our tree and I heard some growling. It was a hellhound. It jumped from the bushes and attacked me. I managed to doge it and I ran for the front step of the porch. My dad had heard the commotion and had come outside to see what it was. I was still new to the whole monsters coming after me thing so I tried to hide behind him. He turned and ran inside leaving me an easy target. He ran inside and started screaming for Susan and the boys to hide. The hellhound came at me and this time I wasn't able to dodge properly. It took a good swipe at me and I hit the wall. That's when my dad showed up and chased it away but not before it destroyed half of the house. That night Susan and my dad had a discussion about me. She wanted to send me away as far as possible. She wanted to send me to a boarding school far away. I wasn't surprised when my father complied. That was the night I decided to run away. It was hard running on the road. I was seven and I fought for my life every night. Everything changed the night I met Thalia and Luke, they became my family and the rest didn't matter.

Kind of AU but then again we don't truly know the specifics of what happened during Annabeth's childhood. Hope you guys liked it! Please Review! And thanks to all of you who have favorited my stories as well as reviewed them!
