Author's note: Never judge my stories by my titles, I don't think i'd ever get them right.

Unquestionable Loyalty

"Stop! Did it ever occur to you that /I/ might not want to? How can you... how can you?! Damnit Severus! I trusted you." Severus was taken aback at the bitterness dripping from Harry's raving. Never mind that the subsequent reaction to their break up was a normal thing.

"Harry-" he was abruptly cut off.

"Thats /Potter/ to you!" Harry snarled, "Who do you think you are? Calling me Harry?! You have no right, not after you hurt me." /Damn him! The selfish brat, does he not realize that he is not the only person torn by this?/

"Why Severus? Why did you do it? Why did you end it? Why would you want to discontinue our relationship? If it's because of the issues Voldemort forced upon you and Draco, then forget it, cause I'm not leaving." And here, Harry hit the nail on coffin, so to speak.

"How can you deal, never mind live, with the fact that your significant other is continually cheating on you, even if it is forced upon?" Severus knew that Harry was hurting. It was a common occurrence for Harry to cry in his arms, muttering on how unfair it was for them not to finally have the happiness they both desperately craved. This would go on day in and day out, and both would bask in the comfort of each other's embrace.

"Why? Because right here," Harry pointed to his heart, "trusts you. In our love. And up here," Harry lifted his hand, lightly pressing his head, "I know, not just believe, in your fidelity. There is no question on your loyalties and faithfulness. So tell me, is it worth it? To go through with this break up when we know perfectly well that it will leave us miserable and broken?" Here, Harry turned to face Severus, peering closely at his lover, reading the emotions crossing through his eyes.

"I thought not." It all came down to the love, pain and long suffering that the two of them had shared. Harry firmly believed that when the time came they would know only true happiness, and that as long as they were together, they could fight through anything.

Harry captured Severus' lips in a chaste kiss, and held him tight.

"We're going to get past this. There will not be a need for that damn charade once Voldemort and his Death Eaters are defeated, but until then, I will continue to be there every night to hold you. Never forget that I love you deeply, Severus." Harry spoke so softly and quietly, that had Severus been five steps back, he wouldn't have heard.

"I love you too." Harry was momentarily stunned at the depth of the painfully raw emotion in Severus' voice; it took him a moment to react. When he did, Severus would later recall that he hadn't felt a night with such passion as he felt that night.
