It's prom night at McKinley, and as usual, the rest of the school are teasing the Glee club, which is unfair as they were planning to perform a number after King and Queen were crowned. Kurt had invited Mercedes and Rachel to be his dates, and the three were chatting about Rachel's new ambition to get a part in the McKinley play held by the drama department. Karofsky and Amizio were nearby, having a friendly dance, and rather drunk as someone had spiked the punch. The same ones who had caused this underage alcohol consumption had a plot for the King and Queen too.
Will Shuester was to announce the voted, so when he asked for everyone to quiet down, they did as told, many on the edge of their seats, but some knew what would happen. As Shue dramatized the reading of the names, he lost his acting skill when he saw that David Karofsky had been crowned king? Dave himself looked up, confused, and looked at Finn, the most likely candidate. Snickers were heard as Dave walked up and accepted his crown from Miss. Pillsbury.
"Well, alright, congratulations David!" Shuester exclaimed, "and now, for our beautiful queen, the people have selected..." he opened the envelope, and the look of glee on his face evaporated. "...Kurt Hummel."
Rachel and Mercedes spun around, as well as the rest of Kurt's friends, and Kurt himself looked shocked, but pleased, until, he saw the mocking of the jocks. He glared at them, and stood up, walking toward the stage. He walked like a star being awarded a golden globe, and his friends roared and wolf whistled. They knew if he did not take it personally, they should not either.
Karofsky stared as Kurt walked, head held high, playfully waving to his loved ones, and his smile began to shine. Shue and Miss. Pillsbury even began to clap, and soon, everyone but the hateful jocks was cheering for Kurt.
Emma placed the crown on Kurt's head, and he gave her a kiss on her cheek in his happiness, causing her to rush to the bathroom to clean. It was a sweet gesture anyway, and Shuester and Kurt hugged tightly as he was congratulated by most of the school.
Dave had been standing watching the whole time, but he finally decided to approach Kurt. Kurt gave him a hardened look, and waited to see what would happen. Dave held out a hand, and Kurt looked down at the muscular man's fingers.
"Heya Hummel...wanna dance?" Dave asked, grinning.
Kurt took Dave's hand, "It's Kurt, Karofsky. I mean, Dave."
And so, they walked hand and hand and danced together at the prom, and all was well, except for the hateful jocks that Puckerman and Fabray cornered on the dance floor and made them feel sorry for ever harassing Kurt.
