Summary: Atlantis P.O.V.
I watch them. Each one of them. I know there likes, their dislikes, their hobbies, andtheir interests. I haveseen their triumphs, their failures, their happiness, and their sadness. They are so young but each day they continue to grow. The new ones remind me of the old ones. Always so inquisitive, always trying to figure out what fits where and why something works and something doesn't.
They haven't seen the real me yet but when they do I can't wait to see their faces. Each new discovery brings a light to each one of their eyes, particularly to one of them more than the others. I call him my guardian, my protector, my mind, for he is the one that is always with me day and night, constantly trying to keep me happy and in perfect health. It is true his body is not like the old ones, he lacks the natural form of what they call the ATA gene, but his mind…his mind is exactly like theirs. It is quick and constantly bounces from thought to thought, from idea to idea. The others try to keep up but he is always steps ahead of them.
There is another in my walls, which for many days, has kept my guardian happy. He is the clown, the warrior, my companion. His body is exactly like the old ones. I felt it when he first walked through the gate. The stargate…what funny words these young people have for my previous inhabitants designs but I digress. He is a child filled with light and darkness and many secrets which he tells me into the night hoping I can hear him. When he does, I send him waves of calming. His soul is so turbulent, he is so afraid of making a mistake, but I know he will not fail his people. My people. My new family.
My heart leaps at the sight of them together but forever aches for they do not realize what they have. Their world has such silly rules that keep them at a distance. They have a love so pure but they can never express it. Each barb, each insult they throw at each other is meant to keep them at a distance but instead I see it drawing them closer. They have a friendship, a bond, a calling, to each other
I watch over them and they watch over me.
