Title: Prom Madness.
Pairing: Mary Anne/Pete with mentions of an unexpected pairing and past Mary Anne/Logan.
Notes: One-shot written back in 2007. Total fluff that takes place during their senior year. If enough people want one, I just might be talked into a sequel.
Disclaimer: Not mine.

"Prom makes for interesting date combinations," Pete Black observed to Mary Anne Spier one afternoon as he prepared to leave school for the day. "Take Emily and Alan for example."

Mary Anne looked at him in shock. "Emily Bernstein and Alan Gray? Please tell me you're joking, Pete."

"I wish I could my dear, but it's true. The valedictorian and the class clown are going to prom together. I was there when he asked her."

"Unbelievable."

"Quite." Pete smiled at Mary Anne. "Do you have a date yet?"

Mary Anne shook her head. "I broke up with my only real date option last year." She sighed. Breaking up with Logan was one of the hardest things she ever had to do. At one point she loved him more than anything. But those feeling had changed when she really noticed Pete for the first time in her life. It amazed her how her feelings for someone she had known all this time could mean something more.

"I wouldn't be so sure about that," Pete said with a grin. He had did a celebration dance when Mary Anne and Logan broke up for good. Somewhere along the way he fell for her. Hard. Too bad he never got the nerve to tell Mary Anne. Until now. He kissed her on the lips and then looked at her hopefully. "What do you say MA? You and me. It could be a blast."

Mary Anne smiled. "I'd love to go with you."

Pete smiled back brightly. "Sweet. Why don't we talk tomorrow during lunch and make plans?"

"I have a better idea. Why don't we talk now?" With a mischievous look Pete had no idea she was capable of, Mary Anne pulled him closer to her and kissed him.

"Sounds good to me," Pete answered as they pulled away. He opened the door and motioned in the general direction of his car. "Let's rock and roll."

The end.
