Ripples and Waves
Things didn't go crazy the moment Juudai entered Duel Academia. Or...they kind of did, but not for everybody, and not in a particularly meaningful way. Sure, he had defeated a veteran academic in his entrance exam, but they went months thinking it was a flute and very few had seen convincing evidence otherwise.
It was partially Juudai's fault, sleeping in class and wracking up those detentions. But then there was the whole saving the world thing...multiple times. That woke people up. Painted him the hero. Not noting the stepping stones, the ripples in between like his friends know.
